Opening Files from your 2D Drawing

During training this week I came across something that a number of my students were unaware of…it’s often these little things that can speed up your day to day work within SOLIDWORKS
 
SOLIDWORKS gives the user the ability to open parts/assemblies/subassemblies from locations within your 2D drawing without the requirement of you using the standard File, Open and having to browse through your local and network locations
 
Let me explain below:
 
Were you aware you can open a file from the RMB (Right Mouse Button) click on any cell in the Bill of Materials…

Or perhaps how you can open various levels of the files from RMB in the views themselves;

Assembly View Open
 
Sub-Assembly:

SOLIDWORKS Part
 
Or maybe one final old favourite, pressing the letter ‘R’ on your keyboard to bring up the graphical view of your recently open documents:
