Custom Settings – Collated Quick Tips

We’ve collated some of our favourite tips on how you can customise your SolidWorks interface to suit your preferences along with aiding your efficiency…

1. Customise the Command Manager

Add your most commonly used features to a custom tab unique to you. Alternatively, add features or operations to standard tabs. Move features around depending on your workflow via the customisation options.

2. SOLIDWORKS Favourite Materials

If applying a range of specific materials to your models is something you have to do regularly then the materials favourites bar is something you need to be using. Whether you use a library of customised materials or just one standard SOLIDWORKS material, making use of the favourites bar can save you a huge amount of time searching for and applying your materials.

3. SOLIDWORKS Notes Library

In SOLIDWORKS we have a toolbox library, materials library and appearances library, one library we don't have is an annotations library. This can easily be rectified allowing you to create an extensive catalogue of frequently used annotations, notes, symbols etc.

4. Copy Settings Wizard

Sometimes you may want to share your settings with other people in your team to have uniformity – other times you may want to save your settings for use after un-installing SOLIDWORKS. Find out what custom settings you can choose to back up:
