Coventry Academy Student team crowned F1 in schools UK champions & win a place in the world finals Malaysia.
WMG Academy for Young Engineers in Coventry users of SOLIDWORKS have been crowned 'F1 in Schools' UK Champions 2017 at Silverstone racetrack, an accolade that is a proven stepping stone to a career in Formula 1.
What is F1 in Schools?
F1 in Schools Ltd is a not-for-profit company established with committed partners to provide an exciting yet challenging educational experience through the magnetic appeal of Formula One.
It is the only global multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of students aged 9 to 19 deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature compressed air powered balsa wood F1 cars.
This prestigious achievement also means the team have secured a place at the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge World Finals that will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, two £5000 per year bursaries for a Mechanical Engineering degree course at UCL Engineering, a Denford Router to the value of £10,000 for their school and tickets for the 2017 FORMULA 1 BRITISH GRAND PRIX courtesy of Silverstone including an exclusive F1 paddock tour hosted by F1 in Schools.
Congratulations to the winners, 17 year old Eddie Hodierne, Team Manager for Academy Racing, led Elias Khimasia, 15, Callum Kennedy, 16 and Abi Hirons, 16 and good luck for the finals!
