SOLIDWORKS Visualize - Introducing AI Denoiser

Tuesday May 1, 2018 at 10:20am
A brand new "super feature" to SOLIDWORKS Visualize, AI Denoiser. Create your renders 10x faster! Employing the latest machine learning technology and artificial intelligence SOLIDWORKS Visualize can quickly produce stunning images, animations, 360 spins and immersive VR (Virtual Reality) content.

A brand new "super feature" to SOLIDWORKS Visualize, AI Denoiser. Create your renders up to 10 times faster! Employing the latest machine learning technology and Artificial Intelligence, SOLIDWORKS Visualize can quickly produce stunning images, animations, 360 spins and immersive VR (Virtual Reality) content. Available from 2018 SP.3 in both SOLIDWORKS Visualize Standard and Professional, this enhancement is a huge time saver.

With Visualize Standard included with all SOLIDWORKS Professional and Premium licences on support, more and more users have access to photo-realistic renders at a professional standard. Customers are finding they are able to boost their marketing and sales teams with eye catching content before a part has even been manufactured.

Want to see how you can benefit from tools like SOLIDWORKS Visualize or Composer? Why not check out our event schedule and join us at a local workshop (Event Title: Streamline your Product Communication Process).

How to Initialise the Denoiser

Hardware requirement;

  • NVIDIA GPU (Kepler™ architecture or newer) with CUDA 9.0 support
  • At least 4 GB of video RAM

Initialise the Denoiser to make it available for use;

Click Tools > Options > 3DViewport and, under Denoiser, select Initialise Denoiser.

If selected, the Denoiser requires a certain amount of video RAM even if it is not being used. However, if you clear the option so that the Denoiser is not available, no resources are used by it. After you initialise the Denoiser, you can turn it on or off for any particular rendering operation.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to take advantage of this great new super-feature, you will need an NVIDIA graphics card that has at minimum 4GB of memory (VRAM). Your graphics card will also have to be the Kepler-series or newer. Click here for a list of supported NVIDIA graphics cards that will work with the new AI Denoiser. Newer laptops meeting the minimum of 4GB VRAM (ex: M2000M) will also support the new AI Denoiser. Visualize will still run normally on lesser laptops, just without the new AI Denoiser speed boost. If your graphics card is not on this list, then please consider upgrading to take advantage of the 10x faster rendering performance.

DROPPING FERMI SUPPORT: The update to include the AI Denoiser means SOLIDWORKS no longer support very old NVIDIA graphics card of the Fermi generation. These cards no longer supported are Quadro FX series and Quadro x000. Updating to Visualize 2018 SP3 and newer with these outdated cards will result in Visualize not using your GPU and run in CPU-only mode. To continue using Visualize with your Fermi generation GPU, please remain on Visualize 2018 SP2 and do not update to new versions until you have a graphics card of Kepler generation or newer.
