On the 5th of November, we held our first virtual SOLIDWORKS Launch Event. This immersive event replicated a day at a real event hall with opportunities to visit our exhibitor’s booths in our expedition hall, attend live sessions in our virtual auditorium, hear from keynote speaker Mark Beaumont, compete to win prizes and much more!
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made this virtual event a success, from the Solid Solutions team, the exhibitors, keynote speaker Mark Beaumont, to all customers who attended and our event sponsors, Dell and NVIDIA.
All those who
interacted with Dell and NVIDIA’s virtual booth were automatically entered into
a raffle to be in with a chance of winning a Dell Precision 7540 SOLIDWORKS
Workstation, kindly provided by Dell and NVIDIA, our platinum sponsors. (For a full list of Dell's hardware, please click HERE)
The lucky winner this year was Sian Jones from Carl Kammerling International, specialists in consumer products providing a wide range of hand tools, tool storage, power tool accessories and security products suitable for professional, industrial and consumer use.
“SOLIDWORKS has been a great investment for the business which did not previously use CAD for product development. Both the software and the fantastic support from Solid Solutions has helped the NPD department to work more efficiently, decreasing the number of prototypes needed to bring a product to launch.
The launch event was, as always, extremely informative and a great opportunity to and learn more about SOLIDWORKS, Solid Solutions and suppliers of hardware and services by visiting the auditoriums and booths. I look forward to attending the event each year and using what I learnt to further improve my work,” comments Sian.
Despite the events being online this year we continued to run the ever-popular Model Mania competition! This competition pits attendees against each other to create a model in the quickest time. The accuracy of the completed design is paramount in this competition, as such contestants were required to not only model quickly but also provide an answer that precisely matched ours. The overall winner this year received an Apple Watch and the two runners up were awarded with a Space Mouse provided by 3Dconnexion. The winners were:
1st Place – Helena Lewis from Mookie Toys
Runner’s up – Stephen Godfrey and Charlie Dale both from Conquip Engineering
Check out our solution video where we cover one of the faster ways to create the model and share some speed modelling advice.
